I’m Shane.
Let’s find your story.

The interesting bit is often the part you’ve stopped noticing.

It might be a colleague changing lives, or an idea that brought your neighbourhood together. I want to know what’s behind the work you do.

I help you find those stories and tell them in a way that other people care about.

Shane Dean, founder of Purple Sheep PR and The Good News Post.

A journalist’s curiosity.
A community’s point of view.

I’ve spent 30 years working with stories. My path has taken me from newspaper reporting and political correspondence to community projects and founding The Good News Post.

Along the way, I’ve seen how sharing a story can change the way people see themselves and the place they live.

That’s the approach I bring to Purple Sheep PR. I’ll ask questions, listen properly and get to know what you’re trying to achieve. Then we can decide which stories deserve to be shared, and who needs to hear them.

“Quite simply, the best PR you could have. Big thinking. Incredible creativity. Brilliant journalist relationships. Unrivalled connections. And a relentless drive to get results. They make things happen — we even ended up in 10 Downing Street!”

The Purple Sheep
standard.

Ethical PR isn’t a slogan. These are the four promises behind every story, entry and pitch.

  1. Substance before publicity. We only say what you can evidence. No spin, no greenwashing.
  2. Permissions before publication. We agree facts, quotes and people’s involvement before sharing material.
  3. Honest awards. We only enter awards worth winning, and never pay for a shortlisting.
  4. Clear expectations. We agree the scope and fee. Editorial coverage is never guaranteed.

If a story can’t meet this standard, we won’t tell it. That’s as true for a global business as it is for a village school.

What it’s like
to work with me.

You speak to me.

I’ll be your point of contact, from our first conversation to the details of your story. You can expect plain language and an honest view of what’s likely to interest people.

Your community matters.

Before we start talking, we need to listen. I want to understand the people affected by your work, the relationships you’ve already built and where you can make a useful contribution.

We start with what’s true.

Your reputation deserves care. We’ll agree the facts, make sure people are comfortable with their involvement and build a story you can stand behind.

A Bristol base.
A curious outlook.

Purple Sheep PR brings together the parts of my work that have always interested me: asking questions, understanding people and helping a useful story reach an audience. My background in reporting shapes how I approach a brief. I want to know what happened, why it matters and what we can honestly say about it.

If you’re a founder developing your profile, a purpose-led business with something to share, a school trying to communicate its character or a team that deserves an award, that’s where we start. We’ll talk about the people you want to reach and what you would like them to understand.

Based in Bristol, I work directly with you to shape the brief. You can explore my PR services or read about booking me to speak. If you’re unsure where your idea fits, a short email is a perfectly good beginning.

Good news,
put into practice.

I founded The Good News Post to share positive stories and help young people become storytellers themselves. That experience shapes how I approach PR for schools and community-minded organisations.
